Start Date: June 11, 2025 (3 days of training CPR certification)
End Date: August 8, 2025
Session Breakdown:
Session 1: 6/16 - 6/27
Session 2: 6/30 - 7/11 (no camp on 7/3 & 7/4)
Session 3: 7/14-7/25
Session 4: 7/28 - 8/8
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 4:30 pm

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Engage with Campers: Communicate clearly and effectively with campers to ensure their physical and emotional safety while keeping them actively involved in activities.
- Foster Team Collaboration: Work closely with peers and supervisors to create a positive and high-functioning team environment.
- Model Positive Behavior: Serve as a role model for campers by demonstrating respect for nature and encouraging positive interactions among peers.
- Maintain a Positive Attitude: Bring enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow in your role at camp.
- Monitor Safety and Behavior: Observe camper behavior and enforce safety regulations, utilizing appropriate behavior management techniques as needed.
- Support Individual Success: Create opportunities for each camper to find success and enjoyment during camp activities.
- Follow Established Protocols: Adhere to the camp schedule developed by the Lead Counselor and Camp Manager to ensure a seamless experience for campers.
- Engage During Meals and Free Time: Monitor and interact with campers during meals and all unstructured time to foster connections and create a supportive environment.
- Communicate with Families: Effectively share information with parents and caregivers about their child’s experience and the camp program.
- Plan with the Team: Collaborate with fellow staff members to identify and prepare any equipment and supplies needed for activities.
- Participate in Meetings and Events: Attend staff meetings and help with special events to strengthen connections within the team and community.
- Assist with Additional Duties: Be flexible and ready to take on other responsibilities as needed to support the camp’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Patience and Empathy: A high level of patience and empathy is essential for working with children.
- Experience with Children: Genuine desire and ability to engage with children aged 3 to 16 in an outdoor setting.
- Leadership Skills: Capability to lead and co-lead educational experiences that promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, with a focus on nature-based learning.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills to prepare for and deliver activities in a timely manner.
- Receptive to Feedback: Willingness to accept supervision and guidance, and the ability to implement constructive feedback.
- Team Player: Ability to effectively collaborate in team settings, contributing your skills to support the organization’s mission.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with campers, peers, and management.
- Knowledge of Nature: General knowledge of gardening, farm animals, and conservation, along with a passion for the outdoors.
- Professional Interactions: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with Leads and the Management team.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions, such as varying group sizes and weather.
- Certification Requirements: Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it during staff training.
- Transportation: Reliable means of transportation to and from the camp.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a criminal background check as required by the organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work in all weather elements.
- Able to hike up to 4 miles while attending to children’s well-being and safety.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis
- Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, and keeping electronic records
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
PAY
All seasonal Day Camp Counselors will receive a set salary starting at $800/week ($740 for floaters), with opportunities for weekly pay increases for additional responsibilities, such as overnight camp supervision, lead positions, and weekend programming. Further details will be discussed during the interview process.
