Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive age-appropriate activities program tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate event planning for group activities, outings, and special events to foster community engagement.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other departments to ensure activities align with residents' care plans.
- Conduct assessments to identify residents' preferences and needs related to recreational therapy.
- Manage schedules for activities, ensuring a balanced offering that accommodates all residents.
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff involved in activity programs.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continuously improve programming.
Requirements
- Proven experience in long-term care settings or nursing homes is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Certification as an activity director in the state of Texas is required.
- Knowledge of aging issues including dementia-related challenges and the ability to provide compassionate care.
- Excellent schedule management skills to balance multiple activities simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
