Associate Civil Engineer

A well-established engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Civil Engineer to join its team in Manhattan, NY. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional with 12 years of experience looking to take on leadership responsibilities, manage complex civil projects, and contribute to business development. The successful candidate will oversee a range of projects, including site layout, roadway design, stormwater management, and utility planning, while ensuring high-quality execution, safety compliance, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead civil engineering design and analysis for projects involving roadway design, site planning, stormwater management, utility layout, parking analysis, and grading.
• Coordinate and present project submissions to local municipalities, utilities, environmental agencies, and planning boards.
• Conduct site investigations to assess and document existing conditions.
• Oversee and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
• Manage the development of project plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering services.
• Provide technical guidance during construction administration, addressing project challenges and ensuring smooth execution.
• Utilize a mix of technical expertise and project management skills on projects ranging from small-scale site restorations to large-scale infrastructure developments.
• Engage with existing clients and actively pursue new business opportunities to support regional growth.
• Prepare technical reports and fee proposals for civil engineering services.
• Represent the firm at industry and business development events.
• Mentor and develop local engineering staff, fostering professional growth.
• Track and update project financials and revenue projections on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 12 years of progressive experience in site and civil engineering.
• PE license required (New York preferred).
• Experience working with New York County and Town DPW/Highway Departments, as well as large municipalities and public agencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drafters, providing constructive guidance.
• In-depth understanding of local zoning codes, permitting requirements, and regulations.
• Ability to collaborate with senior leadership on business development and growth strategies.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for site design and drafting.
