We are looking for a Restaurant Expeditor who will play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of food orders from the kitchen to the guests. The Expeditor will oversee the final stages of meal preparation, making sure that all dishes meet quality standards and are delivered promptly and correctly to the guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication & Coordination:
Act as the liaison between the front-of-house and kitchen staff.
Ensure accurate and efficient communication regarding order statuses, modifications, or special requests.
Order Management:
Review tickets/orders and ensure that all items are ready for plating.
Check for any special instructions (e.g., dietary restrictions or allergies).
Prioritize orders based on timing and complexity to ensure efficient service.
Quality Control:
Inspect dishes for presentation, portion size, and accuracy before they are sent to the dining area.
Ensure that all food items meet the restaurant's standards for quality and consistency.
Plating & Presentation:
Organize and plate dishes neatly, ensuring they are visually appealing and correctly garnished.
Add final touches to dishes, such as sauces, condiments, or garnishes.
Speed & Efficiency:
Coordinate with servers to ensure timely delivery of food to customers, managing the flow of orders.
Address any issues related to delayed or incorrect orders to minimize disruption to service.
Problem Solving:
Address any discrepancies between orders and customer requests, ensuring quick resolutions.
Communicate with the kitchen staff if there are any issues with the preparation of an item.
Maintaining Cleanliness:
Ensure that the expediting station is clean, organized, and well-stocked for quick service.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in a restaurant, particularly in roles like server, cook, or line cook, is preferred.
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with kitchen and service staff.
Attention to Detail: Must be able to spot minor issues with dishes before they are served to customers.
Time Management: Ability to handle multiple orders and manage time efficiently during busy periods.
Customer Service: A focus on ensuring customer satisfaction, including addressing concerns promptly.
Physical Demands:
Standing for long periods, walking, and the ability to lift and carry heavy items (plates, trays) are common in this role.
Work Environment:
Typically works in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
Works closely with kitchen staff, servers, and other restaurant personnel.
