Job Description Associate General CounselOverview : Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will support Conrail in a broad range of employment litigation matters with a significant focus on FELA and FRSA matters. This attorney will also play an important role in managing and supporting outside counsel as well as in advising internal stakeholders.Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience with a respected national or regional law firm, with a focus on employee and third-party injury litigation. The successful candidate should also be prepared to advise the client on the preparation and application of all manner of policies and manuals. Experience representing railroads or other highly regulated industries as well as experience in regulatory matters is preferred.Location : Mt. Laurel, NJ.Compensation : Competitive base salary and bonus commensurate with experience. Excellent health benefits, pension and 401K.Relocation : NoPosition InformationJob DutiesWork with internal and outside counsel to manage a diverse portfolio of employment-related injury and dismissal claims.Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements and policies.Manage employee ethics and compliance programs.Provide advice and counsel regarding compliance with employment laws and risk mitigation.Manage and advise on regulatory compliance programs.Draft and review initial documentation, obtain approvals, modify documents, and coordinate document execution.Assist senior level attorneys, paralegals, and staff members, with the review and preparation of documents, reports, and correspondence.Manage outside counsel to meet deadlines and achieve objectives while remaining within budget.Qualifications & SkillsJuris Doctor from accredited law school with license to practice as an attorney under the laws of New Jersey and / or Pennsylvania or licensed in any other state with the ability to obtain a limited in-house license to practice in New Jersey and / or Pennsylvania.Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at a national or regional law firm.Familiarity and experience with employment law.Familiarity and experience with litigation before administrative tribunals and state and federal courts.Experience with regulatory matters.Familiarity and experience with FELA, workman’s compensation, or other employee injury laws.Familiarity and experience with FRSA or other similar whistleblower laws.Experience managing and supporting outside counsel.Project management experience.Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.Ability to handle quick turnarounds and work effectively with diverse in-house clients.Ability and desire to quickly learn the fundamentals of different areas of the law.Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Must be a flexible and strategic thinker in a fast-paced environment.Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize projects while managing competing priorities.Ability to present facts, issues, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations or solutions that demonstrate command of content.
