What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Reading Intervention Teacher position at Conroe Independent School District?
To provide instruction, support, training, and expertise at the campus level in the district-wide Dyslexia Intervention program and Response to Intervention (RtI) program in Conroe ISD.
- Provide instruction using the dyslexia intervention program to all students identified for dyslexia services
- Keep accurate and complete records for identified students with dyslexia
- Acts as liaison to building personnel in interpreting educational policies, procedures, and guidelines concerning students with dyslexia and struggling readers
- Evaluate students referred to the dyslexia program for testing and provides periodic evaluation and exit consideration from the dyslexia program
- Guide the assessment process of interventions connecting Tier II to Tier III in the RtI district-wide program
- Provide training on dyslexic and related disorders, intervention strategies and curriculum based measurement to teachers in the district
Evaluate RtI data collection and interpretation
- Support the implementation of RtI strategies and interventions at the various district campuses assigned
- Monitor Tier II and III interventions at district campuses
- Provide recommendations for ways in which curriculum and instruction in the district can be adapted to meet the learning needs of struggling students
- Participates with teachers, parents, and administrators in determining qualification for Section 504 dyslexia services
- Attends RtI, Section 504, and ARD meetings to consult and plan for students
- Demonstrates steps taken for professional growth

- Experience in staff development presentations
- Experience in working with students with dyslexia and related disorders
- Experience in working with struggling students
Three years of successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary level
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Training/Certification in a structured and systematic dyslexia intervention program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Teaching experience and expertise in Language Arts and Math
- Strong background in literacy instruction and assessment
- Strong understanding of dyslexia and related disorders
- Understanding of core principles of Response to Intervention (RtI)
- Knowledge of the Student Success Initiative (SSI) process
- Strong background in differentiated instruction
- Strong knowledge and practice of current research-based balanced literacy models and interventions for struggling readers
- Expertise in curriculum, instruction, and staff development
- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to disaggregate and interpret data to support development of Tier II and III interventions for the district-wide Response to Intervention program
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and staff development
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. District travel; Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
