What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Dyslexia Interventionist Anticipated position at Conroe Independent School District?
Plan and deliver reading intervention programs to address dyslexia and related disorders. Evaluate, collect student data and collaborate with other interventionists, dyslexia lead interventionists, special education staff, campus staff, dyslexia specialist, and coordinator to determine appropriate intervention, classroom adaptations, and placement.
- Provide instructional services to students identified for dyslexia services.
- Keep accurate data collection and complete records for identified students with dyslexia.
- Act as liaison to building personnel in interpreting educational policies, procedures and guidelines concerning dyslexic students and struggling readers.
- Increase administrator and teacher awareness of legal responsibilities and available resources.
- Collaborate with Special Education evaluation staff about students referred for testing.
- Monitor students who have completed dyslexia intervention.
- Attend MTSS, Section 504, and Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to consult and plan for students.
- Attend training in methods and strategies that improve reading instruction.
Provide staff development and coaching to campus personnel on dyslexia and reading deficits
- Recommend ways in which curriculum and instruction can be adapted to meet the special learning needs of struggling readers.

- Three years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Experience in working with students with dyslexia and related disorders
- Experience in staff development of curriculum
- Experience in working with struggling readers
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of dyslexia and related disorders
- Strong background in literacy instruction and assessment
- Strong knowledge and practice of the science of reading and interventions for struggling readers
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction and staff development
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; District travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
