JOB DESCRIPTION :
Implement skilled nursing care to specific students based on the Individual Health Care Plan developed by the School Nurse. Maintain a safe environment for these students to function and learn. To assist with other duties as needed. Follow Special Education operating guidelines, district and campus policies and procedures.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide safe environment for students. Initiate emergency care when necessary to staff and students
- Collaborate with the School Nurse, special education staff regarding the health related IEP items
- Notify school nurse if student has an accident and becomes ill
- Provide skilled nursing care as directed by the Student Care Plan
- Administer and document medications according to district policy and procedure
- Accurate and timely documentation of student health care as specified by district policy
- SHARS documentation
- Assist in all areas as requested by Special Education staff and School Nurse
- Maintain neat and orderly work area
- Discuss all concerns and needs of student with School Nurse prior to any action or decision
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students and parents
- Other duties as assigned
- Maintain CPR / AED Certification (may be done with School Nurse)
- Maintain Licensure requirements
- Model behavior and written / verbal communication that is professional, ethical and responsible
- Follow attendance and punctuality rules
- Maintain confidentiality of information
