What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Driver position at Conroe Independent School District?
Performs duties which involve driving motor vehicles to repair sites, delivering equipment, parts and materials, and performing routine maintenance work.

- Drives vehicles to and from maintenance facilities.
- Picks up, delivers, and transfers custody of maintenance equipment, materials, and samples to and from various organizations and locations.
- Inspects vehicles to detect mechanical malfunctions, and reports service requests to supervisor for appropriate action.
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance of vehicles to include checking fuel, oil, other fluids, battery, and lights.
- Performs routine maintenance and custodial work in assigned facilities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
Employees in this class perform duties of routine difficulty requiring limited initiative and independent judgment under close supervision.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Lifts, lift gates, ladders, dolly, pallet jack, crane, forklift and trailers. Must drive tractor trailer and have class A drivers license for any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GWVR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma
- Texas Class A CDL required or obtained within 60 days of employment
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing vehicle operation
- Working knowledge of basic vehicle mechanical functions and maintenance procedures
- Some knowledge of maintenance equipment and supplies
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to inspect and perform minor maintenance to vehicles
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
