What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Technician position at Conroe Independent School District?
Serve as a customer support staff member handling on-site technical work to install and maintain computers, technology peripherals, network equipment and software applications throughout the district.
- Provide excellent customer service to CISD users.
- Address user tickets regarding hardware, software and networking.
- Install and upgrade computers, printers, scanners and other peripherals throughout the district.
- Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district.
- Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
- Install and configure software as needed.
- Assist the network team with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate work ticket documentation and close tickets in a timely manner.
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
- Respond to after-hours situations as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 2 years desktop support experience
- 2 years networking experience
Education/Certification:
- Associate degree in computer hardware / software disciplines, or equivalent work experience
- A computer certification or equivalent computer hardware and software experience
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
- Understanding of network switch configuration and setup
- Knowledge of computer workstation setup
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
- Excellent communication skills
Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written); interpret procedures, and maintain emotional control in times of stress.
- Frequent walking, lifting and transporting of heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components.
- Some climbing on ladders.
- Ability to safely operate a departmental vehicle on a consistent basis.
