What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Support Behavior Paraprofessional, PK-2 position at Conroe Independent School District?
Help meet the behavioral and instructional needs of individual students with behavioral challenges. Work collaboratively with the Student Support Services District Instructional Coach, teacher, and campus administration to create and implement the behavior management and instruction in different settings.
- Help manage the behavior management plan of assigned student(s), including intervening in crisis situations and implementing CPI strategies as needed.
- Encourage students to exhibit positive classroom and schoolwide behavior through the use of PBIS and reinforcement techniques, and model appropriate ways to do so.
- Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special needs.
- Assist assigned student(s) throughout the school day including school day transitions.
- Collaborate and provide updates of special needs or problems of assigned student(s) with both the classroom teacher(s), campus administration, the Student Support Services District Coach the Coordinator of Student Support Services.
- Assist in data collection and analysis procedures to track specific behaviors.
- Participate in staff developments and special events as assigned.
- Assist in preparing or organizing materials for academic and behavioral tasks.
- Work collaboratively with district coach, administration, and classroom teacher(s) to determine effective strategies for fading their assistance while maintaining successful academic and behavioral success.
- Act as a trouble shooter/liaison to problem-solve situations that the student might encounter.
- Assist students with behavioral needs who may require physical guidance and prompting, physical restraint, or other strategies used in non-violent crisis intervention.
- Maintain professional relationship with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality.

Experience working with children with a variety of behavioral needs at the PK-2 level
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
- Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or must obtain within 30 days of hire
- Valid Texas Educational Aide/Paraprofessional Certificate or must obtain within 30 days of hire
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work with children with behavioral difficulties including but not limited to physical and verbal aggression
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple people to problem solve
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of basic behavioral principles
- Knowledge of Tier I Best Practices in the area of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and classroom management.
- Willing to complete additional training in Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports or related areas as assigned

PAY GRADE: IS-3 - mimimum hourly rate - $15.50
