Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is seeking an undergraduate student interested in environmental litigation to join the Clean Air & Water Program as a summer intern.
The Clean Air & Water Intern will work directly with Clean Air & Water Program staff to conduct a variety of research, writing, and administrative tasks to enrich and promote CLF’s litigation-based advocacy work. On a broad level, interns will learn about how public interest environmental lawyers strategically and creatively leverage legal tools and regulatory regimes to pursue environmental justice. On a day-to-day level, interns work will entail many of the tasks and responsibilities of a paralegal at CLF, including helping to conduct desktop and on-the-ground case investigations, researching environmental science topics, writing memos on the status of current cases, evaluating the viability of prospective cases, participating in all-team calls, and monitoring pollutants produced by facilities previously sued by CLF.
The internship pays a stipend of $9,400 for a full-time, 10-week internship, pro-rated for a shorter duration. In your cover letter, please indicate if you are eligible for external funding or course credit. The intern will be based from the Boston office.
What you’ll do:
- Assist with research on a variety of litigation topics pertaining to program priorities;
- Assist with case developing through brainstorming on various environmental topics;
- Perform administrative tasks such as note-taking.
What you’ll need:
- Major in environmental science, environmental policy, or environmental studies;
- Excellent research and writing skills;
- A strong and demonstrated interest in environmental advocacy and policy;
- Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite and social media tools;
- The ability to work independently and take initiative;
- A strong commitment to CLF’s mission and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion;
- A strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
