**Job Title:** Botanical Technician
About the Position:
This 16-week full-time position is located in Hawaii National Park, HI. The term of positions will include a living allowance of $600/week plus $200/week additional benefits (pre-tax) and an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program.

We are a non-profit organization that provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Our team works with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.
Position Overview:
The incumbent will serve with a diverse crew on vegetation management activities, primarily invasive plant control in an outdoor field setting using herbicides, hand tools, and possibly chainsaws. They may function as a co-leader for volunteer groups and high school youth rangers working on invasive plant control projects. Secondary duties will include assisting with surveys and control for Rapid 'Ohi'a Death, biosecurity surveys, outplanting native plants, and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with a team to control invasive plants in both frontcountry and backcountry settings.
- Keeps accurate and detailed records of treatment and control work.
- Participates in surveys to detect trees infected by Ceratocystis (Rapid Ohia Death).
- Assists the restoration team with propagating native seedlings and planting and collecting seeds.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to hike on remote and rugged terrain with a fifty-pound backpack and camp up to five nights in remote backcountry.
- Willingness to use chemical pesticides and herbicides while following all safety requirements.
- Criminal background checks and fingerprinting required.
- Must be 18 or older and a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience controlling invasive plants.
- Experience identifying Hawaiian plants.
