Title: Senior Accounting Manager
Starting Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position will be in the $88,400 to $91,052 range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.
Location: Durango, CO, with part time remote eligible
Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary:
The Senior Accounting Manager position is responsible for managing accounting services including but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Fixed Assets. This position maintains the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data and supports the Finance Team throughout the monthly and annual close process. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the integrity of the general ledger. The position ensures compliance with applicable regulations including GAAP and the CFR. The position provides day-to-day support of accounting operations. The Accounting Manager supervises the AR Manager and AP Manager and is supported by the Director of Finance.
Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversees the general ledger (GL) for the organization
- Performs advanced GL reconciliations and resolves transactional conflicts
- Supports treasury management including processing weekly deposits; monthly bank reconciliations
- Completes grant analysis on revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP
- Oversees the completeness, accuracy of AR, AP, Fixed Assets and Capital Leases
- Provides direction, coordination, training and support of finance staff as needed
- Continually assesses current policies, practices, procedures, and operational processes; provides recommendations and initiates improvements
- Assists in the management of the annual single audit; prepares and reviews audit schedules; coordinate staff
- Assists the Director of Finance in the monthly close process; review and post transactional entries and reconciliations
- Train and support AR and AP functions

- Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual.
- Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, advanced technical accounting skills required
- Minimum of 5 years managing administrative systems in non-profit or similar organization preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience with 3 or more years in a supervisory capacity
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms.
- Ability to keep others and oneself, in remote locations, accountable to expectations.
- Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies.
- Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.
