We are seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in our Senior Living community.
The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious, nutritious meals for our residents while adhering to specific dietary needs and preferences. This position requires a commitment to quality, safety, and sanitation standards, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and care teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Plan and organize meal prep, ensuring a variety of appealing and nutritious options.
- Maintain cleanliness & organization in the kitchen/dining areas in compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Monitor food inventory and place orders for supplies as needed, ensuring minimal waste.
- Collaborate with the dining services team to accommodate residents' dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences.
- Assist in menu planning & development in conjunction with Dining Manager & Director of Culinary Service.
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly and efficient manner, when necessary.
- Ensure all food preparation areas and kitchen equipment are clean and in good working condition.
- Participate in training and mentoring of kitchen staff as needed.
- Participate in resident dining events and special occasion meals to promote a positive dining experience.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- culinary degree or certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial cook, senior living experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- Food Handle'sr certification required.
- Excellent cooking skills with an emphasis on nutrition and dietary restrictions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor towards residents and staff.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
