What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consignment Specialist position at Consign Couture?
Hours Available: Part-Time (20-30 hours/week – Saturday Availbility is a must)
Compensation: $16 - $18 per hour, depending on experience

We call our in-store team of sales associates “Consignment Specialists”- because that’s what they are! As a Consignment Specialist at Consign Couture, you’ll be the main point of contact with our customers and consignors, and you will have the important responsibility for deciding what inventory comes into the store. This job includes elements of:
- Customer service (ensuring our customers and consignors have a great experience shopping and consigning in the store, communicating with consignors about the status of their items, ringing out transactions and processing online orders.)
- Inventory “buying” and management. (deciding what to accept, pricing new consignment and preparing it for sale, managing expired and sale inventory)
- Some photography for our social media. (We post available items to our Instagram stories every day)
- Help with store maintenance (keeping the store looking good! Dusting, vacuuming, sprucing the racks…)
You’ll be a central figure in maintaining the store's standards and making sure everything runs smoothly.
- Store Opening & Closing: Perform opening and closing duties, including running end-of-day reports, and securing the register
- Store Maintenance: Spruce the sales floor regularly and perform light weekly cleaning. Keep the store tidy and looking great at all times.
- Visual Merchandising: Help uphold store visual merchandising standards, ensuring an inviting and stylish shopping experience.
- Customer Experience: Provide a positive, personalized experience for customers, assisting with their fashion needs and styling.
- Product Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the store’s inventory (as well as general trends in the fashion world) to better serve customers and assist in styling.
- Sales: Ring up sales from in-store and online channels, ensuring accurate transactions. Package and ship items sold through social media.
- Consignment Management: Process incoming consignment (research, price, and tag new items and prepare them for sale)
- Customer Inquiries & Communication: Respond to customer and consignor inquiries (email, phone, social media) in a timely and professional manner.
- Product Photography & Social Media Follow-Up: Photograph items in the store to post to our instagram stories, post store updates, and engage with followers (respond to comments and messages). Maintain Instagram story highlights and ensure consistent, on-brand content.
- Share Feedback! Act as the management team’s extra “eyes and ears”. Notice what our customers are shopping for and interested in, listen to customer and consignor feedback. Share insights to improve store operations or customer experience.

- Tech-Savvy: Fast-learner who is comfortable and confident with technology. We will train you to use our inventory management/consignment platforms, POS system, and the other online services we use.
- iPhone Photography Skills: An eye for light, composition, and color. Comfortable taking photos on an iPhone. Experience with basic product photography is a plus.
- Comfortable using social media: Comfortable posting to Instagram stories, managing story highlights, adding/editing text, and engaging with comments/messages.
- Previous Retail or Resale Experience: A love for secondhand shopping, or experience in resale is a big plus!
- Passion for Fashion: A passion for fashion, styling, and a keen eye for putting together outfits. An interest and understanding of Consign Couture's style and ethos.
- Fashion Knowledge: Familiarity with popular fashion brands of all styles and price points (from high street to designer/couture).
- Sustainability Focus: An interest in ethical and sustainable fashion, and the principles of thoughtful consumption.
