What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analytics / Data Scientist position at ConSol Partners?
The Company
We're recruiting for a cutting-edge Austin-based leader in autonomous driving technology, specializing in both robotics and self-driving vehicles. The company is on an exciting mission to expand and evolve its US operations as it pushes the boundaries of innovation. Already making waves in the autonomous vehicle industry, they've formed key partnerships with major players in delivery apps and robo-taxi services, solidifying their influence in the future of transportation.
The team is dedicated to advancing the future of autonomous driving by creating evaluation frameworks and metrics that ensure the safety, performance, and readiness of self-driving systems. They work closely with engineering teams to analyze both real-world and simulated driving data, enabling data-driven decisions that drive the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Their efforts focus on addressing key questions such as : 'How does the vehicle navigate complex intersections? How does it ensure passenger safety during maneuvers? How can readiness for urban deployment be statistically validated?'
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Data Scientist / Engineer to join the team and play a critical role in defining and evaluating the performance metrics of autonomous vehicle systems. The individual will be responsible for designing and implementing quantitative measures to assess driving behavior, safety compliance, and passenger comfort. This role involves analyzing large datasets, applying advanced statistical methods, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the autonomous systems meet the highest standards for safety and reliability. The position offers an opportunity to significantly impact the future of autonomous driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze real-world and simulated data from autonomous vehicle experiments to assess system performance.
- Develop and optimize quantitative metrics (both rule-based and machine learning-driven) to evaluate driving behavior, safety, and passenger comfort.
- Apply statistical techniques, such as hypothesis testing and inference, to validate the reliability and sensitivity of metrics.
- Collaborate with autonomy software, simulation, and safety teams to identify areas for improvement based on data-driven insights.
- Build scalable data pipelines to automate the calculation and reporting of performance metrics.
- Review driving logs and participate in test rides to validate data analyses against real-world conditions.
