The Remote Operations Control Room Director is responsible for the 24/7 oversight of diverse power generation assets from a centralized control room. This role is responsible for operational excellence, team leadership, and driving high performance across thermal, renewable, and storage technologies. In addition to core operational responsibilities, the Director supports business development efforts for proposals and contracting, and engages with clients on operations, reporting, and analytics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Remote Asset Management: Oversee team providing real-time monitoring and dispatch of a multi-technology fleet, including BESS, solar, wind, thermal, and HV substation assets. Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations through advanced SCADA systems.
- SCADA & Control Systems: Manage team which develops, configures, operates, and troubleshoots the SCADA and plant control systems across multiple platforms.
- Team Leadership & 24/7 Operations: Manage and develop a high-performing team of control room operators. Create shift schedules, SOPs, and training programs to maintain 24/7 coverage.

Multi-Technology Operations: Manage remote operations across a diverse fleet that may include:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- High Voltage (HV) Substations
- Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plants
- Wind Turbine Generators
- Thermal Generation Units

Business Development Support: Contribute to proposals and pricing models by providing operational insight. Help define and negotiate scopes of work for future remote operations contracts.

Procedure & Compliance: Develop and maintain operational procedures and checklists. Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO, and corporate standards.

Budgeting & Planning: Develop and manage the control room operational budget, including tools, staffing, and training.

Client Interface, Reporting, and Optimization: Track asset performance metrics, support energy settlement and reporting, and lead initiatives to improve operational availability of assets. Lead development and delivery of client-facing performance dashboards, operational reports, and insights.
- 10 years in power generation operations, including 5 years in a leadership role and direct experience with remote operations or centralized control rooms
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or similar fields

Proven experience supporting or leading:
- Business development efforts, including proposal input and SOW development
- Client-facing reporting and operational communication
- Root cause analysis (RCA) processes and reliability investigations
- Preferred Technical operations experience across:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- High Voltage Substations
- Solar, Wind, and Thermal Generation
- Track record of managing shift-based teams and developing SOPs, budgets, and performance KPIs.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
