The Utility Operator supports the operation and maintenance of a ~470 MW combined cycle power plant, ensuring the safe and efficient functionality of all equipment. The plant features advanced systems, including steam and water systems, and operates under strict environmental and safety protocols. This entry-level role focuses on training and development, with the goal of qualifying as an Auxiliary Operator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in training to become qualified as an Auxiliary Operator.
- Assist with the startup, shutdown, and routine operation of plant components and auxiliaries.
- Conduct inspections, monitor equipment, and report issues.
- Perform housekeeping, material handling, and chemical off-loading tasks.
- Operate industrial mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steers.
- Support maintenance efforts, including minor adjustments, equipment inspections, and site upkeep.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation related to plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational protocols.
- Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge preferred.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment operation.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training is a plus.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to hazardous materials with the use of protective equipment.
- Rotating shifts, overtime, and potential call-ins as required.
