Performs projects, procedures, or tasks, at a level of independent expertise, involving the installation, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical equipment, associated with a generating station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots or repairs and performs all maintenance procedures on all electrical equipment associated with the generating station including: Boilers and turbines, water and steam systems, pumps, valves and condensers, lighting, public address and television systems, heating, air-conditioning and ventilating equipment, batteries and chargers, fire protection systems, elevators, coal yard scales and vehicles, hoppers, pulverizers, conveyors and hammer mills and ash removal systems, water and air heaters, precipitators, process controls, annunciators and data loggers, stack, blowers and draft fans, demineralizer systems, 4160 Switchgear and motor control centers, and any other electrical distribution systems.
- Installs and makes available for use the type of equipment listed above.
- Assures that all work performed is in compliance with the Plant Clearance Permit System.
- Performs assignments regarding the review of specifications of newly acquired equipment and the performance of check-outs and verifications of quality and quantity in order to make recommendations concerning the equipment availability.
- Makes sketches, takes notes and completes reports in order to maintain complete and accurate records about the repair and maintenance of equipment, reports any abnormal or potentially dangerous conditions to the appropriate supervisor(s) in a responsible and timely fashion.
- Ensures proper utilization, maintenance, and security of assigned tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Makes recommendations to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor about any practices, procedures, or requirements in order to facilitate maintenance schedules, short- or long-range plans, or any other efficiencies or cost improvements.
- Provides the necessary on the job training and guidance of assigned electrical apprentices or of other personnel of lesser experience, in order to upgrade their electrical maintenance skills and to enhance the possibility of greater responsibility and utilization of skills.
- Acts in an exemplary manner in order to maintain and promote safe practices and procedures and participates in scheduled safety meetings and first aid classes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Exchanges information with Maintenance and Engineering Personnel and collaborates on joint projects.
- Obtains equipment clearances from Operations Personnel
- Obtains and retires equipment and tools from Storeroom Personnel
- Exchanges information with Relay and Substation Personnel and collaborates on joint projects.
External Relationships
- Assists in installation or repair, receives training, and exchanges information with Manufacturer Representatives.
