Health and Safety Specialist II reports to the Director of Health & Safety and plays a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate health and safety programs. This position supports facility personnel in ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations (federal and state-specific), national standards, and risk management practices. This position additionally will focus on supporting Renewable Energy Projects. Additionally, the H&S Specialist will uphold safety policies and ensure a culture of safety excellence across all operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, national consensus standards, and risk management practices impacting facility operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and standards in collaboration with management.
- Conduct accident investigations, assist HR with coordinating medical treatments, and analyze trends to recommend corrective actions.
- Design and implement workplace processes to mitigate hazardous conditions and prevent future incidents.
- Monitor and drive participation in corporate safety awareness programs.
- Evaluate and recommend new safety programs for facility integration.
- Inspect and assess workplace environments, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and government standards; follow up on corrective actions.
- Train personnel on safety programs, evaluate retention of safety knowledge, and ensure enforcement by supervisors.
- Assist in maintaining OSHA 300 Logs and tracking department safety work orders.
