The Shift Supervisor oversees the operational management of a 2-Unit, 1800-MW fuel oil/natural gas power plant. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while complying with federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include supervising shift personnel, addressing abnormal situations, and supporting mechanical, electrical, and I&C functions as needed.
Essential Duties

Operational Management: Assume responsibility for plant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all regulations. Operate the plant within environmental, operational, and manufacturer’s guidelines.

Problem-Solving and Emergency Procedures: Monitor operating conditions, identify and diagnose issues, and take corrective action as necessary. Develop and implement emergency procedures to manage abnormal conditions and ensure plant integrity and personnel safety.

Personnel Supervision: Actively manage and oversee shift personnel, including performance management, promotions, discipline, and training. Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Maintenance Coordination: Initiate work requests to address equipment failures and abnormalities, documenting observations in the Infor EAM system. Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Environmental teams to ensure issues are resolved efficiently.

Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols. Ensure all personnel are trained and aware of safety standards and actively participate in the development of a safe workplace culture. Assist in preparing injury/illness reports and comply with site policy guidelines.

Communication and Reporting: Provide clear and effective communication with the Operations Manager, including updates on personnel issues, operational deficiencies, and suggestions for improved efficiency. Ensure effective shift handovers, maintaining seamless workflow and communication between shifts.

Regulatory and Contractual Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and site policies. Stay informed about market conditions, rules, and commercial operations to support effective decision-making.
