What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Control Room Operator position at Consolidated Asset Management Services?
This position is defined as "Remote" because the Control Room Operator will remotely control operations from a distance. However, this position will report to an office location in downtown Houston.
The Junior CRO is responsible for the monitoring and controlling operation of all Plant equipment under their control in accordance with written plant procedures complying with all applicable NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) standards under the supervision of the ROC Shift Lead. Complies with plant policies including those concerning safety and environmental. In the absence of specific orders and / or directives, the Operator exercises initiative, using experience, training provided and good judgment.
The Junior CRO operates from established and well-known procedures and can be self-reliant with minimal supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating procedures and guidelines combined with directives from the ROC Shift Lead. The Junior CRO encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional variations from the norm.
The Junior CRO must effectively communicate information to ROC Shift Lead, ROC team, and fellow Plant personnel, relative to the condition of the Plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for Plant improvements. The Junior CRO must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
During periods when operations are in standstill, the Junior CRO will seek to familiarize themselves with all current and ongoing procedures, assist with updating and improving procedures / protocols and continue training and development provided by ROC Shift Lead and ROC Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise real-time remote renewable energy plant operations in accordance with established procedures (both NERC and ROC provided) to ensure peak availability for energy sales under perfect market conditions.
- Properly operate renewable energy plants, gas power plants, combustion turbines and plant auxiliary equipment during normal and emergency operation
- Log, document and report all events taking place during shift including instrument data, telemetered values and other monitored points of interest onto shift logs.
- Evaluate alarms and abnormalities to troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems implementing plant emergency procedures as needed.
- Establish rapport and collaborate with operations teams at all plants to ensure system availability and productivity.
- Apply knowledge of gas power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision-making and work tasks
- Follow direction and oversight of ROC Shift Lead but also requires minimal supervision under the protocols and procedures provided by the ROC.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate various switches and valves and the effect each has on the total operation.
- Learn, study, and become proficient in all ROC-related procedures, manuals and protocols as well as NERC standards.
- Ability to monitor multiple plant operations over varied SCADA applications.
- Ability to work DuPont schedule with availability for extra shifts should it be required.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Works effectively with team members to communicate all reportable information to ensure collaborative information exchange.
