Sales Trainee

The Sales Trainee position will involve working in various roles in order to learn the business with the goal of becoming a highly qualified sales person. Your long term position will depend upon what is the best fit for you within our business.

Full Time Permanent Position

We are a privately held, American owned company that values local decision making and embraces the entrepreneurial spirit. We are a leader in the electrical wholesale distribution industry in Chattanooga and have played a vital role in the construction and maintenance of TVA projects, the new CHI Memorial, a number of UTC projects as well as apartments, restaurants, schools, and other commercial spaces around Chattanooga and surrounding areas. We sell everything required to bring power from the utility to the end user.

We are currently seeking an energetic and service-oriented individual for an Entry Level Account Management/Sales position in Chattanooga, TN. This position requires no previous electrical or sales knowledge, but it will involve ongoing hands-on training. The general outline of the training program can be seen below. That said, it is important to note that our goal is to develop you to be the best you can be in the role that suits you the most.

Warehouse Training (Approx. Time = 2-4 weeks)

(Safety and equipment operation; shipping/receiving;

freight claims; paper processing; backorders; warehouse

organization; product familiarity)

Counter Sales (Approx. Time = 3-6 months)

Product knowledge; customer interface and sales ability

Inside Sales (Approx. Time = 4-8 months)

Phone sales techniques; develop job requirements; joint

calls with outside salesmen

Purchasing (Included with Inside Sales)

Inventory control (stock level); write-downs

Seminars and Home Study will be ongoing throughout the training program.

Duration spent in each training function may vary at the discretion of the Profit Center Manager, based on skills, experience, capacity, and progress of the trainee.

The ideal candidate develops and maintains long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with customers and vendors in order to maximize profit. Account Managers are self-motivated leaders with good communication skills and a strong desire to succeed.

Throughout the training program, you’ll be mentored by fellow employees. These employees will provide support, industry and product knowledge, and other insight into the business in order to help you succeed.

Compensation: Salary as a trainee is $50,000 and includes benefits such as health care and 401k matching. There are also opportunities for bonuses based on your performance and progression through the training. The average compensation of an established Sales person is over $150,000.
