The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will work at the ConMet Clackamas aluminum foundry. This person will be responsible for coordinating quality assurance activities related to product quality. This includes product and process auditing and inspection activities, participation on new product teams, customer communications related to quality issues, and leading 8D teams through the problem solving and corrective action processes. A day in the life as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer here at ConMet could include the following :
- Coordinates with Operations, Engineering, and Customers to support program launch and APQP process.
- Maintains control system documents (e.g. control plans).
- Leads corrective action efforts for customer, supplier, and internally identified quality complaints.
- Standardizes work instructions, FMEAs, control systems, and traceability systems to improve manufacturing operations.
- Conducts root cause analysis for discrepancies and defects.
- Develops and implements quality changes and process improvements.
- Maintains awareness of how each activity contributes to quality to enable prioritization of tasks and decision making. that directly supports achievement of the organization’s quality standards.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards, including adherence to all workplace safety rules and regulations and proper use of PPE.
- Prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies :
Language Skills :
Ability to read, write, verbalize, listen, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language. Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization.
Mathematical Skills :
Requires mathematical skills equivalent to those required under the degree requirement.
Physical Demands :
Requires a combination of working in stationary positions, moving throughout the work environment, ascending / descending stairs, and moving items (up to 25lbs).
Requires the ability to observe product details at close range or far away.
Travel as required.
Work environment :
This position requires working in a shop and office environment that includes loud operating machinery, exposure to extreme temperature fluctuations (hot or cold), and requires wearing appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe safety shoes.
