The Packaging/Supply Chain Engineer at ConMet’s Monroe, North Carolina wheel end manufacturing plant plans and directs activities concerned with management of expendable/returnable container systems, adherence to packaging guidelines and identification of packaging and logistic improvements. In addition, this role supports the design, implementation, and testing of all new packaging, as well as existing packaging for the plant.
This role requires working onsite at our Monroe, North Carolina foundry and machining manufacturing plant. Non-local candidates must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available.
Key Duties
- Executes corporate container management strategy for the facility. Works closely with production to ensure the right container is used at the right time. Ensures exact documentation of packaging material directed to the customer as well as accuracy of return data from customers.
- Create reports for container management trends with customer locations with use of ConMet owned packaging.
- Improve production line efficiencies and overall equipment efficiencies by right size of packaging.
- Evaluates supply chain for both supplier inbound shipments and pertinent return shipments of empty containers to make recommendations for proper packaging utilization as well as plan for logistic efficiency.
- Identifies opportunities within the facility to convert expendable packaging to returnable packaging.
- Consults with establishment's purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging.
- Collaborate with customer and corporate packaging engineering, following the corporate NPI process, to design/test/implement customer bound returnable container systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Engineering degree from four-year college; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Packaging Science, Supply Chain, or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
- Four years working experience within an Automotive tier 1 or 2 facility preferred.
- Four Years working experience in fast-paced manufacturing is preferred.
- Certified Packaging Professional preferred.
