Janitorial Custodian (Evergreen)

What You'll Do

• Dusts, sweeps, mops, buffs, cleans fixtures and removes trash. Cleans restrooms with proper chemicals and replenishes supplies.
• Utilizes equipment such as electric floor machines and industrial vacuum cleaners, in addition to mops, brooms and dusters.
• Strips floors, applies floor finish and buffs floors.
• Cleans carpets, mats, windows, walls, and woodwork.
• Must be able to understand and carry out instructions, as well as observe safety and security regulations.
• Must be able to learn prescribed custodial methods and requirements.
• Schedules own work within the scope of instructions from the supervisor.
• Keeps assigned area clean and sanitary.
• Ensures proper care, operation, and storage of cleaning equipment to prevent damage to equipment.
• Takes necessary action to remove or counteract ice, snow, and mud on floors to prevent damage to property or injury to personnel.
• Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management.
• Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
• Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
• Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
• Must have a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
• Must be able to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Must meet initial employment requirements.
• Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
• All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
• Must successfully complete a Reading Test Assessment.
