What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counter Sales/Warehouse Representative position at Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co Inc?
Summary:
The employee in this position will be responsible for counter sales they will be the primary point of contact for walk-in customers, assisting them with product selection, answering questions, processing orders, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This is a dual role when the sales counter is slow the ideal candidate will also assist in the day-to-day operations in the warehouse. Should be able to load and unload truck and trailers of material. Should be able to operate a forklift. Should have general knowledge of warehouse operations such as picking and pulling orders.
The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds is required. Work environment includes company warehouse, plant, or production areas with periods of continual standing or walking. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing is required. General knowledge of computers and handheld scanners would be considered a plus. Pre-employment drug screening will be required post offer.

Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):
- Responds to customers’ needs, consistent with quality, culture, and business practices.
- Use a computer to retrieve customer information, stock status information, the status of purchase orders, and to make changes on customer purchase orders. Ensure that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
- Follow up on inquiries by checking order status on computer for delivery information. Work closely with purchasing/expeditor regarding deliveries of scheduled shipments.
- Make price quotations immediately by phone on stock items. Prepare forms, requests for quotes (RFQ) on items not in stock and return quotations to customers ensuring their requirements are met.
- Quote prices, terms, delivery dates based on product knowledge/company forecasts and inventory.
- Obtain quotes from Approved Vendors (distributors and manufacturers) to meet customer's quality and delivery requirements.
- Ensure documentation of all transactions (Customer RFQ, RFQ to vendor, customer quote, customer Purchase Order, change orders.)
- Unloading and load trucks for delivery
- Store away incoming material in the proper place.
- Must have knowledge of forklift operation
- Verify packing slip with incoming product
- Follow safety rules and work procedures.
- Position blocks and/or tie a rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
- Cleans work area
- Performs other duties as needed.
