What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Driver position at Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co Inc?
Summary:
This position must have a Class A CDL License. The employee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight, daily, between one or more locations. Must be able to operate truck with a manual transmission. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds is required. Work environment includes company vehicles and warehouse, plant, or production areas with periods of continual driving/sitting and occasional standing or walking. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing is required. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to pass all DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment drug screening will be required post offer.
Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):
- Follow safety rules and work procedures.
- Drives 24' straight truck and tractor and trailer to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
- Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
- May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Cleans work area or vehicle.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must have 6mo – 1yr DOT Driving Experience
