Full Time Water Operator Job Description
About us
PWSD # 2 of Audrain County, located just West of Mexico, MO, strives to supply safe, potable water to nearly 1000 area residents, generally North and West of Mexico, MO.
As a full-time water operator for Audrain # 2, you will be under the supervision of the District Manager and the Chief Water Operator, assisting in maintaining the distribution system and its facilities. This position will be expected to have prompt and regular attendance, providing 40 hours a week to the district.
Overview of Position
This position will be responsible for assisting the chief water operator in maintaining safe, potable water to all customers in the system. This will include managing the infrastructure of the mains, service lines, flush hydrants, and valving in the system, along with performing quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis and adjustments to chemical feed systems, checking wells, pumps, motors, and gauges in the well houses to maintain water quality.
Essential Requirements, Functions, and Responsibilities
· Attend the class and obtain a Class II, or higher, Water Distribution Certification with in 6 months of beginning of employment
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Willingness to work outdoors, in all types of weather.
· Eagerness to learn.
· Quick adaptation of their thoughts and actions for varying circumstances in the field with positive outcomes.
· Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain good relations with the public.
· Complete all DNR required sampling and reporting.
· Maintain records and files for the district related to daily assignments.
· Assist with monthly meter reading.
· Assist with maintenance and repair work to district property, vehicles, and equipment.
· Perform Missouri One Call locates.
· Ability to perform physical activities requiring use of the entire body and be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
· Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
· Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
· Abide by all standards, conduct, and policies of the district.
· Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
Some adverse working conditions exist in this position. The applicant will be required to regularly work outdoors, including, in some cases, temperature extremes. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, heavy machinery, excessive noise, and working in confined spaces may be required at times. There is also potential for after-hour callouts.
Starting pay will be determined by knowledge and experience. (Pay increases as experience, and duties change.)
