Assistant Controller – Law Firm
Location : Hartford, CT
Salary : $120,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type : Full-time, Hybrid (3 days in-office)
About the Role :
An established law firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee key accounting functions. This role plays a critical part in financial operations, ensuring compliance, managing payroll and partner compensation, and optimizing internal controls.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Tax, Payroll, and Banking Operations .
- Assist in monthly financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
- Ensure timely vendor payments and tax compliance .
- Manage payroll for employees and partners , including bonuses, distributions, and retirement contributions.
- Work with external tax consultants for regulatory compliance and K-1 issuance .
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements .
- Liaise with external auditors for financial reviews and audits .
