About the Role
A leading regional healthcare system is seeking a Controller to lead all aspects of accounting, payroll, budgeting, and financial operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance/CFO, the Controller is responsible for financial reporting accuracy, audit coordination, and compliance with GAAP standards. This is a senior-level role focused on risk mitigation, strategic financial oversight, and the delivery of consistent, high-quality financial services across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting operations, payroll, accounts payable, and budgetary functions.
- Lead preparation for annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and recordkeeping in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage the development of annual operating, capital, and cash budgets.
- Guide the implementation of new or updated accounting systems and controls.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support departmental financial needs and long-term strategic planning.
- Mentor and lead departmental teams with a focus on accountability, culture, and service excellence.
- Participate in executive-level initiatives, financial impact assessments, and process improvement strategies.
- Maintain knowledge of healthcare finance regulations, reimbursement trends, and third-party payer contracts.
- Assist with negotiating contract terms with managed care organizations and analyze reimbursement impacts.
- Support and direct revenue cycle management, including patient services and billing operations.
- Promote a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Ensure staffing and scheduling efficiency while aligning with organizational service goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- Active CPA license (required).
- 7–10 years of progressive leadership in healthcare finance or a similar regulated industry.
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, third-party payer systems, and audit procedures.
- Experience managing large-scale audits and revenue cycle operations preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $139,817 – $216,715 based on experience.
- Eligible for Management Incentive Compensation Program.
