PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under direct supervision until qualifications are attained, the trainee performs chemical, radioactive and environmental analyses to ensure compliance with regulations, plant procedures and safety requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Maintain Training focus through classroom, computer based and task qualification training. 2. Successfully completes 100, 150, 200 and 250 series Chemistry initial classroom training and hands-on task training and evaluation 3. Upon completion of 200 and 250 series training and until the applicable ANSI experience time requirement is met, performs 200 and 250 series tasks under supervision of qualified chemistry technicians. 4. For tasks qualified, under supervision the trainee :
- Performs chemical analyses (evaluates, and makes recommendations) to ensure compliance with the plant water chemistry program.
- Performs chemical analyses for and operates the wastewater treatment system and performs environmental effluent monitoring to ensure compliance with State and National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (SPDES, NPDES) Permit.
- Operates, calibrates and maintains equipment used to perform chemical and radiochemical analyses.
- Performs and evaluates radiochemical analyses of plant systems and effluents and the samples required to support the radiation safety program.
- Performs special analytical services in support of operations, maintenance, safety, and other groups. 5. Maintains materials and supplies required for operation of the chemistry and radiochemistry laboratories. 6. Ensures compliance with cleanliness requirements. 7. Conducts and evaluates special studies in areas of corrosion and corrosion control. 8. Qualifies as an ERO responder 9. Duties may require supervised shift work
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in the fields of water treatment, radio-chemical analysis or chemical analysis preferred, but not required.
Must possess a good technical aptitude as evidenced by successfully passing the EEI Tech test.
Must be able to meet and maintain the requirements of unescorted access at a nuclear power plant.
