Primary Purpose Of Position
The Captain reports to the Chief Pilot. The Captain/PIC is responsible for conducting safe, efficient flight operations in accordance with all applicable CFRs, the AIM, AFM, the Constellation AOM, and applicable country/local regulations. The Captain/PIC supervises the copilot/SIC and other crewmembers assigned to the trip. Constellation Captains provide excellent customer service, are solutions focused, and communicate with other members of the Transportation Department, the company, and outside vendors as needed to accomplish assigned trips.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
- Flight Safety: The Captain carries primary responsibility for the safe transportation of passengers and additional crewmembers. The Captain emphasizes and helps enforce a strong safety culture within the Transportation Department by participating in safety meetings, incident debriefings, and implementing safety recommendations. The Captain also complies with security protocols to protect passengers, crew, and the aircraft. They are expected to be prepared to handle emergency situations in-flight or on the ground. Captains are expected to maintain a working knowledge of the Emergency Response Plan by identifying and using the correct initial response actions during emergency drills or an actual emergency.
- Safety Management System (SMS): Captains participate in the SMS by complying with all regulations, safety best practices, and industry protocols. Captains utilize the Safety Report process, Continuous Improvement process, and other processes to ensure a healthy safety culture exists with the Transportation Department.
- Compliance: Assists the Chief Pilot with ensuring all flights and flight crew members adhere to relevant aviation regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Training and Standardization: The Captain may be assigned additional duties within the Transportation Department requiring them to train and evaluate flight crew members, including pilots and other operational personnel. This involves performing additional duties and tasks, providing technical guidance and support, oversight of training program and records, providing ongoing coaching/feedback and conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of training and flight activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and increased efficiency within flight operations. This involves implementing new technologies, training programs, or best practices to enhance productivity and safety.
- Accept additional duties assigned by the Chief Pilot.
- Holds a valid Airline Transport Pilot License and a valid Instrument Rating for the category of aircraft operated.
- Holds a current type rating for at least one of the types of aircraft operated (if applicable).
- Must maintain PIC qualifications on at least one type of company aircraft.
- Possesses knowledge of the content of the Aviation Operations Manual, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, and the provisions of Titles 14 and 49 of the CFRs and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift 40 pounds to shoulder level due to baggage loading and unloading requirements.
