The Role at a glance:
We are looking for a Catering Sales Coordinator to join our Constellation team at The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, NY. This is a great opportunity if you have a catering & events background and you have had experience planning and executing those events. You will be directly supporting the needs/goals of the Director of Catering as well as the Catering Sales Manager and the Event Specialist. ***This position works days, nights and weekends. A flexible schedule is needed to accommodate event needs***
Compensation is $25 an hour.
What you'll be doing:
- Working as a member of a cohesive operations teams supporting the Director of Catering and sales team, as well as the General Manager to enable event execution. This individual functions as a support to the Event Manager and Captains, as well as sometimes acts as a junior sales specialist when business levels are high. The Catering Sales Coordinator maintains a positive, “win-win” attitude, always working to improve the execution and timeliness of their team.
- Ensuring all event information in CaterXpert from the sales team is up to date and fully detailed prior to event/deadlines.
- Assisting in the setup and execution of events, as well as closing out assigned events.
- Ensuring all event and pre-event paperwork is assembled for proper communication in a timely manner.
- Spearheading business dining for the internal client- scheduling deliveries, organizing layouts, collaborating with culinary.
- Collaborating with facilities teams to ensure proper inventory and cleanliness for event execution and closeout.
- Maintaining calendar of events through Outlook and attend all necessary event meetings and conference calls.
- Communicate with sales, culinary and booking staff, as needed, to ensure understanding of menus and client needs.
- Assisting with sales during the initial inquiry process.
- As needed, assisting in food and beverage outlets in a supervisory role.
What we're looking for:
- 2 years of catering/food-beverage and/or administrative/event experience
- Basic PC knowledge and comprehension (Word & Excel)
