Primary Purpose Of Position
The Vice President of Applications is responsible for leading the organization that delivers and maintains mission-critical applications supporting Constellation's Generation and Commercial businesses. This role will oversee a team of approximately 300 employees and contractors with a budget of nearly $100M, ensuring that applications and technology solutions align with business objectives, drive operational excellence, and create competitive advantages. This leader will work closely with senior business stakeholders, IT leadership, and external partners to define and execute the strategic roadmap for applications that enable power generation operations, energy trading, risk management, customer solutions, and enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in application management, technology modernization, and operational resilience within a complex and highly regulated environment.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
- Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment:
- Partner with Generation and Commercial business leaders to develop and execute an application strategy that supports reliability, efficiency, and growth.
- Define the application portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Drive innovation by leveraging emerging technologies, automation, and analytics to enhance system capabilities and business outcomes.
- Application Portfolio Management & Optimization:
- Oversee the lifecycle management of all business-critical applications, ensuring stability, security, and performance.
- Lead modernization efforts, including platform rationalization, and technical debt reduction.
- Establish metrics and governance to measure the effectiveness and business value of application investments.
- Financial & Vendor Management:
- Manage a $100M budget, ensuring cost-effective investments and financial discipline in application development, maintenance, and support.
- Optimize application spend through strategic sourcing, vendor partnerships, and contract negotiations.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to drive vendor performance and maximize the value of external partnerships.
- Compliance, Security & Operational Resilience:
- Ensure all applications adhere to regulatory, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements, including NERC, FERC, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and data privacy laws.
- Lead risk management efforts to proactively identify and mitigate technology risks that could impact operational reliability or market competitiveness.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to strengthen application security and protect against cyber threats.
- Team Leadership & Organizational Development:
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Attract and retain top talent with expertise in application development, business analysis, and emerging technologies.
- Promote a culture of innovation and agility, enabling rapid response to evolving business needs and market conditions.
- Program & Project Delivery Excellence:
- Ensure effective execution of major application projects, including system upgrades, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Standardize delivery processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and consistency across the portfolio.
- Drive continuous improvement in application development and support processes through automation, DevOps, and Agile practices.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other core science disciplines).
- At least fifteen (15) years' experience in Information Technology with recent experience leading IT governance and oversight functions including: IT Strategic Planning, IT Business Planning, IT Vendor Management, Organizational Change Management, ITIL based processes.
- Ability to develop and maintain executive level relationship and demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions and outcomes.
