Constellium is a global sector leader that develops innovative, value-added aluminum products for a broad scope of markets and applications, focusing in particular on aerospace, automotive and packaging.
Context:
The Compensation & Benefits Manager will administer employee benefits program, which will include retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, and insurance policies such as health, dental/vision, life, and disability programs. The Senior Benefits Manager will be responsible for managing and administering the benefit programs for all employees, both union and non-union. He/She will work closely with Constellium Corporate Total Rewards Team in the development / administration of benefits and other rewards plans. Additionally, he/she will work closely with local Labor Relations Manager to provide advice and analysis on benefits administration related to the collective bargaining agreement.
Key Accountabilities and Primary Purpose:
- Provides counsel and advice to all levels of management in the application and interpretation of Constellium’s benefit plans.
- Initiates and conducts training for management regarding employee benefits and other employee rewards.
- Negotiates third party administrator contracts and administers the terms and conditions of such contracts.
- Responsible for the support and maintenance of Constellium’s HR systems (HRIS).
- Ensures plan design features are enforced to maintain plan design integrity and ensure costs are minimized.
- Coordinates the administration of pension plans, benefits committee work and total rewards surveys.
- Conduct detailed investigations and prepares applicable reports as necessary or as directed.
- Provides counsel to Director, Human Resources on issues related to benefits and other rewards
- Responsible for international employees (Expats) relocation and benefits administration in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensures benefits programs meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective.
- Develops benefits communications and counsels employees on benefits related issues
- Manages the Payroll, Benefits, and HRIS functions
- Oversee all Health, Welfare and Retirement plans; including both a defined benefits pension plan and a defined contribution 401K plan
- Ensure that Ravenswood benefit plans are administered correctly and consistent with company values and philosophy
- Evaluate and monitor all benefit programs and identify and implement changes as regulations and marketplace evolves
- Ensure that Ravenswood benefit programs are competitive and in line with Corporate benefits strategy and with the local marketplace
- Develop strategies and materials to communicate benefit information to employees
- Ensures HRIS systems are functioning
- Accountable for keeping the workforce informed regarding Constellium benefits and the value those benefits provide to employees
- Manage the annual merit increase process for salaried employees and the general increase process for hourly employees.
- Work with finance department ensuring an appropriate merit budget and process for the administration of the Company’s pay plans and the general wage increase.
- Ensure compensation design and administration is linked to employee reward systems to organization’s strategic objectives.
- Oversees the maintenance of the Company’s HR systems and identifies gaps and opportunities for upgrading HR systems based on new technologies and trends
- Ensure compliance to all federal, state and local regulations
- Ensures compliance with SOX program and works directly with internal and external auditors to continually improve processes related to Total Rewards
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Director, Human Resources
Leadership and Technical Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field is required
- Master’s degree and / or SPHR certification is preferred
- 7 - 10 years of broad-based human resources experience
- Demonstrated competencies in several core human resources areas such as: Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, Employee and Labor Relations, and Employment Law
- 3 years of experience in a Senior level Human Resources role is preferred
- Preferred experience will include human resources management within a mid to large size manufacturing organization
- Preferred experience will include working within a union environment
- Excellent ability to balance a strategic focus with a strong orientation toward process improvement and an analytical, detail oriented perspective
- Excellent facilitator who is skilled in resolving conflicts
- Must be able to provide sound counsel to Senior Leadership on sensitive human resources issues
Complexity:
Job requires complex thinking and problem solving skills that can be both independently or collaboratively made. Decisions will establish a precedent and can have a large dollar impact. Must be able to make a decision with limited resources and knowledge within a short period of time.
