Description
The Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate receipt of goods. This role involves verifying incoming shipments, managing inventory levels, ensuring proper storage, and maintaining a well-organized receiving area. The position requires close collaboration with purchasing and production to ensure materials are available when needed, contributing to smooth manufacturing operations. Attention to detail, accuracy, and resourcefulness are essential for receiving goods from external vendors, both domestic and international, and outside processes are accurate, timely, and consistent.
RESPONSIBLITIES
Verify the quantity and quality of materials picked and packaged for accuracy. Inspect materials and ensure bills of lading are correct.
Load trucks with outgoing products and unload trucks with incoming materials placing them in the appropriate locations at the Port Washington and Grafton facilities.
Maintain complete and accurate paperwork.
Perform receiving transactions using ERP.
Support and perform basic inspection measurements on incoming parts, if required.
Understand impacts of receiving transactions and organization. Identify opportunities to improve.
Operate all equipment, including the forklift, in a safe manner and use safe working habits.
Document and track all incoming goods in the inventory management system, ensuring accurate records for future reference.
Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper labeling and condition for easy access by production teams.
Assist with inventory management by conducting regular stock checks and maintaining optimal stock levels.
Work closely with the warehouse and production teams to prioritize material deliveries to support production schedules.
Prepare materials for further handling or distribution to various departments within the facility.
Support inventory control initiatives, including periodic physical counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
Provide recommendations for process improvements.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment including complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in shipping and receiving in a warehouse environment preferred.
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals) and ability to count and identify parts using a tape measure and scales.
Ability to lift 50 lbs with regularity and up to 70 lbs occasionally.
Capability to adapt to changing priorities.
Basic computer and handheld RF device skills to accurately gather and input data.
Basic drawing, reading and comprehension.
Ability to understand the difference between raw material inventory and work in process inventory, including being able to determine the appropriate state of parts on the production floor.
Valid driver's license required.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS
Physical movement to include frequent sitting, standing, walking, twisting / turning, stooping / bending, pushing / pulling. Occasional squatting, kneeling, climbing / balancing, and reaching above the shoulders. Intermittent repetitive hand motions / twisting and forearm rotation.
Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 70 lbs intermittently.
Hand movement including simple grasping and gross grasping. Intermittent fine manipulation required.
Vision; specifically, the ability to see both closely and at a distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Driving a fork truck.
Mathematical skills including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, units of measurement in metric and standard.
Reading comprehension including system generated reports and product information.
Deductive reasoning including the ability to identify parts, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
Clear verbal and written communication. The ability to talk and listen.
Typing on a keyboard and ability to manipulate a mouse. Ability to input data into a handled RF device.
Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses, steel toed boots, and hearing protection.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Production environment with some exposure to heat and cold temperatures. Outdoor exposure as needed to count materials from the outdoor yard.
Exposure to plant noise, fumes, grinding and cutting sparks, and cleaning solvents.
Machinery and equipment including fork trucks, cranes, etc.
