What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Shop Foreman position at Construction Masters Services and Summit Flagging?
Job Purpose: Lead the daily operations of the CMS shop and mechanics, keeping safety at the forefront of all we do. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing, automotive, or construction, excellent leadership skills, and experience with problem-solving and project management. Ultimately, the Shop Foreman will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily startup huddles with shop personnel.
- Assist Asset Manager.
- Lead internal shop repairs both directive and physical.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and consumables.
- Assign work orders to mechanics with estimated repair hours.
- Maintain work order system daily closing completed work orders and updating service information.
- Maintain PSI records within compliance of PennDot.
- Assists with parts ordering and scheduling of outside repairs.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Make important decisions related to resources, workflows, and quality control.
- Create employee schedules for shop repairs and field repairs.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Train and mentor new employees and apprentices.
- Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling tools and equipment and storing them properly.
- Must know how to properly remove and dispose of debris and waste materials.
- Must have knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and work with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies & procedures.
- Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. While also teaching others new to the department.
- Display a willing attitude to learn from others and possess a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Comfortable working in a team environment.
- May also perform related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- GED or High School Diploma.
- 10 years of relevant mechanical experience.
- 5 years of relevant supervisor’s experience.
- Class A or B CDL preferred to start, will be required to obtain within 6 months of hiring date.
- PA state inspection and emissions license preferred (Class 7) to start, will be required to obtain within 6 months to 1 year of hiring date.
- The candidate must be able to obtain a medical card.
- A valid driver's license.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for a prolonged period.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel.
- May be required to move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Experience using heavy equipment.
- May also perform related duties as assigned.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
