Job Purpose :
The Summit Operations Manager (SOM) will work closely with the Services Coordinator, MPT Superintendent, Foreman and others to ensure that all services are delivered in a timely and professional manner while following company policies and expectations. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of traffic control, services management principles and a proven track record of successful delivery. To be successful in this position the candidate needs to be self-motivated, organized, have leadership capability, and excellent communication skills.
Essential duties and responsibilities :
Support the Division Manager performing all duties as requested.
Manage division resources, including budget, and materials.
Responsible for the implementation and work planning of the flagging division.
In working with the Project Coordinator, MPT Superintendent, and others, to create efficient processes that will maximize the flagging workforce.
Delegate tasks, monitor team performance, and provide guidance and support.
Some marketing efforts will be expected in this role. Offering potential / current clients our services, cross selling & upselling will play an integral role in growing the division.
Update Division Manager on all scheduling conflicts and challenges as necessary.
In partnership with the Division Manager and others, assist in identifying & securing new territory.
Maintain scheduling, billing, accident / near miss reports.
Responsible for attending, assessing and actively participating in pre-construction and ongoing services.
Monitor flagging worksites and clearly and consistently report results and status daily to the Division Manager.
Responsible for submitting weekly reports of the workforce, ongoing projects, customer concerns / feedback to the Division Manager.
Serves as the main point of contact for all customer-related inquiries, questions or concerns.
Lead and motivate flagging team members ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
Works with the Project Coordinator, MPT Superintendent, and Foreman to ensure employee disciplinary measures are handled accordingly in a timely manner.
Must be able to work with Division Leaders, Director of Safety and HR to identify issues while working together to resolve and prevent similar challenges.
Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Expected to take ownership to solve problems in a manner that results in the best possible outcome for the team and the organization.
Work with leaders to identify, train, coach and develop future team leaders for the flagging division.
Establish a productive and positive working relationship with colleagues, peers and the senior management team.
Work with the Director of Safety to maintain safety standards on all work sites.
Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Provide employee evaluations as needed.
Identify, coordinate and attend hiring functions, training and other networking events as requested.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and / or Work Experience Requirements :
A bachelors degree in project management, business administration, or a related field is often preferred.
Skills in leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Preferred knowledge of Pub 213, MUTCD : Part 6 and Pub 212 : Title 67.
Able to maintain professionalism & a courteous demeanor as a representative of the company. Must be personable, dedicated, have a positive attitude, and have excellent people skills.
Experience in managing direct and in-direct reports.
Knowledge of OSHA & safety regulations.
Physical Requirements :
Lifting and carrying :
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
The ability to work beyond standard schedule when necessary.
You must be available for emergencies that may arise (evenings and weekends).
Ability to sit for a prolonged period.
Mobility :
Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling.
Endurance :
Sustained physical activity for extended periods outdoors in various weather conditions.
Vision and hearing :
Clear vision and hearing to monitor worksite activities and follow instructions.
Weather considerations :
Must be able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions like heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Office Requirements :
Strong computer skills along with data entry required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels
Administrative tasks may be requested / required
Work hours may be between 6am-4pm (Hours may vary)
