What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Construction Estimator position at Construction Solutions Group?
Primary Responsibilities

- Review all construction documents including budget instructions and overall scope of work.
- Create budgets for the project by the provided design and square footage of the project.
- Create budgets based on anticipated plans and service size.
- Prepare a detailed narrative of the budget design and anticipated costs.
- Prepare binders and presentation material to support and explain the budgets.
- Provide BIM design opportunities and budgets to assist with the final electrical design.
- Understand the National Electric Code to determine if drawings meet code requirements for accuracy and completeness.
- Advise on design changes for potential cost savings.
- Generate and track pre-construction RFIs.
- Maintain and update the Estimating Cost Database.
- Once awarded the project, change the budget and design into actual estimates for final lump sum or guaranteed maximum price contract value.
- Perform special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, related degree and/or equivalent work experience plus two years of work experience supporting similar key position responsibilities in the commercial electrical industry.
- A complete understanding of the electrical construction installation process and costs.
- Electrical trade school, Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician License, a plus.
- Knowledge in estimating software (Accubid/Trimble, Mcormick, ConEst, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.
- Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivities.
- Function effectively as part of a team and coordinate scope of work between trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection & Alarm, etc.)
