What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Political and Government Affairs position at Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast?
The Consulate General of Israel to the Southeastern U.S. seeks an intelligent, enthusiastic candidate to fill a position in political and government affairs in the Southeast region.
As a member of the Consulate’s team, the successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, developing and maintaining relationships with elected officials and government offices on behalf of the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeastern United States.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Reaching out to elected officials (from the federal, state and local levels) and their district staff throughout the Southeast.
2. Tracking media sources and polling data on politicians throughout the region.
3. Working with other organizations, associations, and government offices on issues related to Israel and the Southeast.
4. Maintaining regular communication with state Israel caucuses in the region and coordinating programming for these caucuses.
5. Engaging community leaders and others in support of the Consulate’s goals.
6. Coordinating outreach, including programs and meetings, with communities and their leaders.
7. Coordinating delegations both in the United States and in Israel.
This position is an excellent opportunity to work with politicians, government professionals and other community leaders on political issues in the Southeast and their effects on Israel. You will work extensively with the diplomatic staff at the Consulate as well as elected officials and their staff to facilitate and grow the already-strong political and communal relationship between the US and Israel.
The successful candidate must possess knowledge of the Southeast’s (AL, GA, MS, NC, SC, & TN) political climate and major communities, as well as the US-Israel relationship. The successful candidate must have excellent writing skills and computer skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite and be a team player. The candidate must be able to execute tasks efficiently in high energy situations and be able to juggle multiple tasks at once. The ability to handle sensitive information is required. A bachelor’s degree is required; candidates will be considered from all majors/fields and levels of experience.
Candidates will be selected on writing and demonstrated interpersonal skills, previous work experience, multi-tasking abilities, and his/her aptitude to work with many diverse groups/stakeholders.
Compensation: ~ $70,000/per year benefits, depending on education and experience.
