JOB TITLE: MEDICAL ASSISTANT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic knowledge of medical procedures and techniques.
- Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
- Ability to make logical decisions and solve problems
- Communicate clearly and proficiently
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk
- Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other office equipment
- Ability to make frequent judgments and respond to routine problems
- Ability to make occasional judgments and respond to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drills
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED certification
2. Good communication skills
3. Good computer skills
4. Strong ethical and moral character references
5. CMA or RMA certification required
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, or stoop approximately 75% of the day, walking or sitting the remainder.
- Ability to push, pull or lift objects greater than 50lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Duties
A. Prepare and organize the exam room for the treatment of patients
B. Notifies appropriate clinical staff that patient is present
C. Obtains medical history, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records in patient’s chart
D. Evaluates schedules and reminds patients of appointments and to bring a list of all medications
E. Ensures that equipment representatives and/or vendors have appropriate badges and do not interfere with patient care or confidentiality
F. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice.
G. Utilizes electronic health records
H. Performs other duties as needed
