Key Responsibilities
- CTSI seeks NYS DOL Asbestos Inspectors to act as the firm’s representative to assess the presence and condition of asbestos suspect materials within the New York City/Westchester and Long Island areas.
- Collection of bulk samples of suspect materials, interpretation and communication of laboratory analyses, and active participation in the writing and review process of client reports before distribution.
- Documentation of asbestos inspection data that entails accurately identifying type, condition, and estimate of quantity for all suspect materials, as well as marking sample and ACM locations on provided drawings.
- Punctual and professional demeanor as a representative of CTSI.
- B.S. Environmental Science or another related scientific discipline, OR a High School graduate with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
- NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector certification is required.
- NYC DEP Asbestos Investigation license is not required but a big plus.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- The position entails frequent travel throughout New York City, New York State, and Long Island. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and good driving record required.
- Willingness to commit to varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
- The candidate must also possess the following:
- Thorough knowledge of NYC DEP, NYS DOL, and EPA rules and regulations regarding asbestos investigations.
- Valid licenses and certifications to conduct asbestos investigations.
- OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Certification.
- Valid Respiratory Qualitative Fit Test a plus but not required and Current Medical Clearance to wear ½ or full-face respirator.
