As an Oracle Database Platform Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Oracle RDS database environment. Your expertise will drive the ability to handle a wide range of database operations and maintenance tasks, supporting our organization's operational success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Database Management: Oversee storage management, manage tablespaces, conduct purging and handle RDS storage increases to ensure seamless operations.
- Deployment & Migration: Execute deployments and schema migrations, maintaining detailed records of all database activities, changes, and configurations.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize performance through session management, query flushing, and statistics gathering to keep the database running at peak efficiency.
- Monitoring & Maintenance: Review database builds, configure monitoring agents, and manage alerts to proactively address issues; perform high-availability and patching tasks to ensure system reliability.
- Security & Access Control: Execute database warehouse switchovers, perform OEM server and database migrations, and manage user access, roles, and password policies to safeguard data integrity.
- Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for process terminations, user access management, Oracle Access Manager issues, and documentation; participate in an on-call support rotation to address urgent needs with minimal disruption.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Oracle database engineering or a related field; extensive experience with Oracle RDS and AWS environments is strongly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Oracle database operations, including user management, storage configuration, and performance tuning.
- Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, and OpsGenie, as well as configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Git.
- Performance Skills: Proven ability to optimize database performance using version control and CI/CD tools such as Git, ArgoCD, or similar platforms.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on resolving complex database and upgrade issues efficiently.
- Certifications: Oracle certifications preferred (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional); AWS certifications are a plus.
