  • Design, implement, and meticulously manage our on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure components, including servers (physical and virtual), networking equipment, storage systems, and robust backup solutions, ensuring they meet the specific, often stringent, requirements of the financial industry (e.g., high availability, low latency).
  • Maintain and rigorously administer our server environment, encompassing operating system installation, critical patching, secure configuration, meticulous performance monitoring, and expert troubleshooting, with an unwavering focus on security hardening and compliance adherence within a financial context.
  • Engineer and optimize our network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, secure VPNs, and wireless networks, guaranteeing secure, resilient, and efficient connectivity that meets the demanding standards of financial data transmission and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Administer and maintain our critical storage solutions (SAN, NAS, direct-attached storage) to ensure uncompromised data availability, integrity, and performance, strictly adhering to data retention, security, and privacy policies mandated by the financial sector.
  • Implement and expertly manage virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) to optimize resource utilization and enhance flexibility, while consistently maintaining compliance with relevant industry regulations and security benchmarks specific to finance.
  • Develop, implement, and rigorously test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies meticulously tailored to ensure business continuity and data integrity in the face of any system failures or data loss scenarios, specifically addressing the critical nature of financial operations and regulatory expectations.
  • Implement, rigorously enforce, and continuously audit security policies and procedures across the entire infrastructure to proactively protect our sensitive financial systems and data from evolving threats, strictly adhering to industry best practices (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework) and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLBA, FFIEC).
  • Proactively monitor infrastructure performance and capacity, meticulously identifying potential bottlenecks and expertly recommending and implementing solutions for optimal performance and scalable growth, with a deep understanding of the high-performance demands of financial applications and transaction processing.
  • Expertly troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure-related incidents and problems with speed and efficiency, fully understanding the potential impact on critical financial transactions, regulatory reporting, and overall business operations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, detailed procedures, and thorough troubleshooting steps, with an absolute emphasis on maintaining meticulous audit trails and generating comprehensive compliance documentation as mandated by financial regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse IT teams (e.g., development, security, compliance, audit) to ensure seamless integration and secure operation of all IT services within the complex regulatory framework of the financial services sector.
  • Actively participate in strategic capacity planning and comprehensive infrastructure lifecycle management, consistently considering the long-term regulatory, security, and evolving business needs of a financial institution.
  • Thoroughly evaluate new technologies and solutions with a critical eye towards their suitability, security posture, and compliance within the financial industry, providing well-informed recommendations for adoption.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors providing hardware, software, and services related to the infrastructure, ensuring strict adherence to vendor risk management policies and regulatory compliance prevalent in the financial industry.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required to provide critical after-hours support for essential financial systems, understanding the urgency and potential impact of downtime in a financial context.

Qualifications:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience (5 years) as an Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar critical role, with a substantial portion of that experience (3 years minimum) directly within the financial services industry.
  • In-depth and demonstrable understanding of server hardware, diverse operating systems (Windows Server, various Linux distributions), and robust system administration principles, with a proven track record of implementing and maintaining secure configurations specifically within the financial sector.
  • Extensive and hands-on experience in managing and expertly troubleshooting complex network infrastructure components (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers), with a strong and practical understanding of secure network design principles directly relevant to the financial industry.
  • Significant experience with various storage technologies (SAN, NAS, direct-attached storage) and enterprise-grade backup and recovery solutions, coupled with a thorough understanding of data retention policies, data security best practices, and regulatory requirements within the financial sector.
  • Proven and practical experience implementing and managing enterprise-level virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V), with a strong focus on security considerations and compliance within virtualized financial environments.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments, with a solid understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and advanced security concepts directly relevant to secure financial data transmission and network segmentation.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automating routine tasks, with a strong emphasis on auditability, security, and compliance within financial workflows.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous and methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving critical infrastructure issues within complex financial systems.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management, auditors, and compliance teams within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a highly regulated and often demanding financial services environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of the critical importance of accuracy and compliance in the financial industry.
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of key financial industry regulations and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2, GLBA, FFIEC, GDPR, state-specific regulations).
  • Deep understanding of relevant security frameworks and industry best practices specifically tailored for the financial services sector (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework for Financial Services).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal knowledge and practical application of the ITIL framework and best practices specifically within the financial services industry.
  • Prior experience working in other highly regulated industries with stringent compliance requirements is a significant plus.
