Position Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Financial Counselor. This position is responsible for providing specialized, one-on-one financial counselling and educational services to individuals and families seeking assistance.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Commitment to Mission, Vision, and values of CCCS.
  • Understand and demonstrate organization’s culture in all internal and external business functions.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial assessments for individuals and families facing financial challenges.
  • Provide personalized counseling sessions to address budgeting, debt management, credit repair, and other financial concerns.
  • Create debt management plans, spending plans, or budgets to assists clients meet financial goals.
  • Develop and deliver financial education workshops and materials to individuals and community groups.
  • Teach courses or seminars on topics such as budgeting, managing personal finances, or financial literacy.
  • Stay informed about financial trends, resources, and tools to enhance counseling services.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish realistic financial goals and develop action plans to achieve them.
  • Monitor and track progress toward financial goals over time.
  • Connect clients with relevant community resources, assistance programs, and support services.
  • Negotiate with creditors on behalf of clients to arrent for payment adjustments, interest rate reductions, time extensions, or to set up payment plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and national financial assistance programs and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required for grant reporting and program evaluation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with strategic community partners.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate effective outreach strategies to enhance visibility and support for the organization.
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and provide information about the organization’s services.
  • Conducts outreach efforts to inform the public of financial services with a goal of attracting new clients.
  • Monitor local community to identify, create, and capitalize on relationship opportunities.
  • Organize and coordinate community events, workshops, and presentations as an agency representative to promote the organization's mission and programs.
  • Ensure all outreach activities are inclusive, accessible, and align with the organization's values and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Must get HUD certificate with in 6 Months of hire!

Position Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Social Work or related field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bi-lingual proficiency preferred. Previous experience in financial counseling, coaching, or related role required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Windows based software, excellent math skills, excel, data entry, be reliable, self-motivated, excellent communication skills and proficient in attention to detail.
