Summary:
Direct and organize all Compounding Department operations. Provide leadership and manage activities. Develop and manage procedures for regulatory compliance and adherence to GMPs. Improve product quality and reduce cost through analysis of production methods, processes and optimum utilization of personnel and other resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the operation, staffing, budgeting, efficiency and effectiveness of the department to assure the products are produced in compliance. Managing all complaints and resolving problems. .
- Develop priorities with their Department and business area that align with the overall Plant and company priorities to focus their Department on critical success factors. The priorities, progress and mid-course corrections are routinely reviewed and communicated.
- Develop and implement an organized training program for all compounding personnel in the technical aspects involved with the operation of equipment. This training includes new personnel and upgrades for more experienced personnel.
- Plan, direct, and work closely with Research and Development in the implementation of new products or processes. Transfer knowledge obtained to all department employees.
- Provide leadership and manage activities for the department. Create and maintain an atmosphere that encourages continues improvement and team based problem solving.
- Design, identify, and/or investigate new technologies that will result in process improvements and support both short and long term goals.
- Analyze existing production methods, recommend and implement approved modifications necessary to improve product quality, reduce cost, streamline the manufacturing process and optimize utilization of personnel and other resources.
- Direct and manage in conducting root cause analysis. Develop corrective action training programs as a result of root cause analysis.
- The design, development and documentation of the organization within their department and alignment with other functions. This includes, but not limited to, departmental policies, people systems, structure, and competency standards for both leaders and workforce. The goals, progress and corrective actions are routinely reviewed and communicated.
- Assist and/or consult with other departments as expertise and access to resources allows.
- Provides leadership and strategic decision making. Must lead, mentor and develop others for their own future growth and development. Demonstrated ability to manage and build relationships with colleagues.
- Constantly align and integrate on-going company, Plant and Department initiatives, tactics and requests into the priorities of the business area.
- Acquiring and allocating all necessary resources to accomplish short-term and long-term business plans for their area. These resources can be internal or external to their business area or both.
Experience Requirements:
Seven to ten years experience in a manufacturing environment showing progressive ability to interact and manage people. Must exhibit ability to analyze data and create/implement improvement programs.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of chemistry is preferred.
- High degree of demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Must have thorough understanding of manufacturing practices, including GMP and FDA regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
