SUMMARY: Supervises all warehouse staff assigned to shift, including assigning daily job tasks. Responsible for having deliveries unloaded in order of priority and properly placed in the warehouse. Responsible for keeping production supplied with components and moving finished goods from the production areas to internal and external customers. Ensures Safety and Health requirements are met for the Department. Helps to maintain 5S and housekeeping standards. Helps to maintain and ensure compliance of all related SOPs. Performs a variety of functions related to receiving personnel and equipment maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manages all activities of assigned employees, including packing customer orders and completing all necessary shipping documentation, etc.
- Warehouse Supervisor determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow; reviews and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
- Directs assigned employees to tasks, ensuring they understand what is required for each shift and assigned duties
- Provide coaching, training, and tools for employees to perform their jobs successfully. Provides feedback, when necessary, for improvement. Assists employees in resolving problems
- Coordinates with other supervisors of preceding and succeeding shifts to ensure accurate understanding and communication of issues including full cycle carryover functions
- Direct the operations of the assigned work team to achieve prescribed objectives
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Oversee the production goals established by the company and monitors to ensure employees are meeting established productivity goals, safely and accurately
- Maintain all daily housekeeping and safety standards
- Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems
- Communicate via email or telephone, if necessary, all preventable problems to production, copying the warehouse collective email address
- Resolve inventory issues found in empty bins
- Counsels employees in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures
- Assess training needs of staff and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction
- Work with Shift supervisor to keep damage area current and clean
- Assist Line Leads in motivation to understand the necessity of meeting our customer demands and stepping forward to meet those demands
- Routinely communicate with your Supervisor to gain directives, discuss decisions, and action plans, and share information
- Required to work a flexible work schedule when needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES: YES
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience required
Five (5) years of forklift experience in a narrow aisle warehouse preferred
COMPETENCIES:
- Thorough knowledge of warehouse methods and techniques employed in a distribution center
- Demonstrated supervisory and administrative skills
- Demonstrated leadership and management traits including the ability to motivate people while engendering their respect and support
- Proficient with MS Office products.
- SAP knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of appropriate forklift regulations and safety rules is mandatory
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interface across the entire company
- Train and continually develop the skills of the personnel in your area
