What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Operator position at Container Graphics Corp.?
The CAD Operator uses a computer-aided design system to convert customer design information. They are responsible for the conversion of computer files, physical drawings, or samples to usable and accurate design information. The output of the design is used for building cutting dies according to Container Graphics Corporation (CGC) SOP’s and production requirements. The CAD Operator is expected to drive Container Graphics CS1 mindset and always represent the company in a positive, energetic, and consistent manner. They will report directly to the Production Manager.
- Read and understand a customer’s order, product specifications, and drawings
- Determine if all required information is present and meets the specifications for production. Obtain additional
information if needed
- Analyze the data and data format to convert into the CGC CAD system
- Layout and manipulate a design to meet both the customer’s and production’s requirements
- Output the design and data in the most effective manner for producing a cutting die. Outputs could include
but are not limited to laser, Gerber, rule processors, rubber cutters, etc.
- Develop technical drawings using CAD Software
- Make revisions and obtain approval from appropriate parties
- Distribute completed/approved drawings to internal departments
- Follow all safety procedures
- Understand and participate in quality checks as required
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping in work area
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
